98. Tango & Malbec
This comfortable Galleria-area Argentinian/Uruguayan spot cuts loose from the lockstep rodizio format adopted by many South American spots. So along with appealing South American wines, it is possible to savor such unusual dishes as thinly sliced tongue salad vinaigrette, “cowboy” sweetbreads pan-fried in an iron skillet ,and spectacular oblong pizzas cooked in the wood-burning oven and topped with grilled meats from the parilla. (The pizza with short rib is a particularly good choice.) Good marks, too, for the buffalo churrasco steak and the state-of-the-art empanadas. For dessert? A pretty plate of quince paste and white cheese.
