24. Latin Bites
Chef-owner Roberto Castre and his family worked such deft Peruvian magic at their tiny BYOB spot in the warehouse district that they’re moving to a big new room out in Tanglewood. There, they’ll have a liquor license, along with both a Pisco cocktail bar and a ceviche bar, plus lots of patio dining. What won’t change is chef Castre’s knack for using Peruvian ingredients — particularly the distinctive aji, rocoto and limo peppers — to create refined, beautifully plated dishes that shimmer with flavor. From galvanic leche de tigre shots to a version of tiramisu shot through with Pisco and tropical lucuma fruit, it’s exciting stuff that underlines the growing South American influences in the city’s cuisine.
